Singapore Airlines (SIA) posted a year-on-year decline of 23 percent in passenger loads to 1.3 million in March this year.
This outpaced the airline's moves to reduce capacity which came down by 9 percent.
SIA said the capacity declines were the result of a planned reduction in frequencies across many routes in response to lower demand.
Smaller aircraft have also been used on its services to San Francisco via Hong Kong.
It also cancelled flights to Los Angeles via Taipei, and Osaka via Bangkok, as well as its Amritsar services.
Air cargo saw similar reductions in March, with cargo loads down by 18 percent.
SIA said the economic slowdown had been weighing on its operations, resulting in weakened demand for air travel and cargo traffic.
