Subject Concerned: Airlines Cargo
A Dutch executive for Martinair Holland will serve eight months in jail and pay a US$20,000 fine for conspiring to fix air cargo rates, the U.S. Justice Department said on Apr. 29.
Franciscus de Jong, formerly a Martinair vice president, agreed to plead guilty to a price-fixing conspiracy that ran from 2002 to 2006, the Justice Department said.
Fifteen airlines and four executives have agreed to plead guilty to fixing prices. The other three executives were also sentenced to jail.
Among the 15 airlines to plead guilty have been British Airways, Korean Air and Qantas.
The companies have agreed to pay more than US$1.6 billion in criminal fines.
