Ireland's government is worried jobs will be lost at the Dublin unit of Lufthansa Technik, the maintenance arm of German airline Deutsche Lufthansa, Irish Deputy Prime Minister Mary Coughlan said on June 10.
Coughlan "has worked closely with senior trade union representatives with a view to saving the (Irish unit of the) company and the jobs in Ireland," her office said in a statement.
It said a minority of workers were opposed to an agreement reached earlier with the management which would help save jobs.
"It would be most regrettable if the actions of a small few jeopardise the jobs of so many in this highly skilled sector," it said.
The Technik division, which generates around 15 percent of Lufthansa's revenue, is one of the world's leading companies offering maintenance and overhaul of civil aircraft engines.
