Alaska Airlines improved its on-time performance record in April to the fourth-best in the U.S., according to a report released by the U.S. Department of Transportation on June 9.
A month earlier, Alaska had one of the worst on-time performances.
The airline, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group Inc. of Seattle, had an on-time arrival rate of 84.3 percent, behind only Hawaiian Airlines (91.1 percent), Pinnacle Airlines (86.2 percent) and SkyWest Airlines (85.8 percent).
The average of all 19 airlines tracked by the government was 79.1 percent in April, which is the latest data available. Comair had the worst performance in April, with an on-time arrival rate of only 68.6 percent.
