Subject Concerned: Aircrew Airlines Human Resource
New procedures for staff on the ground as well as those who work on the ramps have been introduced by Thai Airways, as it becomes the latest airline to increase preventative measures against influenza.
A newly created "Special Process Audit" team has been created internally at Thai Airways in order to monitor staff knowledge of the company's Influenza A (H1N1) preventative measures, says the national carrier on June 17 as the "swine flu" virus continues to spread.
Thai Airways staff at check-in counters, passenger lounges, boarding gates and arrival gates will now all be interviewed by SPA auditors on their understanding of current procedures, while ramp handlers will now be "audited" on their disinfection of 36 common touch points to ensure it's done properly.
"Thai Airways International Public Company Limited has established SPA (Special Process Audit) H1N1 Preventive Measures, a team responsible for conducting internal audits of the company's Influenza A (H1N1) measures," said Thai Airways in a statement.
"Furthermore, employees on flight duty must be screened by Thermo Scan at the airport quarantine area."
"The SPA Team is also responsible for conducting an audit of flight crew and cabin crew, in order to measure their level of understanding of Influenza A (H1N1) measures conducted inflight, and passenger screening for influenza-like symptoms," said the airline.
Thai Airways' new SPA team plans to conduct the audits every week.
