United Technologies Corp. unit Pratt & Whitney said on June 15 that Korean Air will use its engines to power six new Airbus A330 aircraft in a deal valued at about US$300 million.
The Asian passenger airline, which also is the world's largest commercial air-cargo carrier, selected Pratt & Whitney's PW4170 Advantage70 engines to power six new Airbus A330 aircraft, a medium- to long-range twin-engine plane.
The deal with Korean Air is for 14 new engines, including two spare engines. Deliveries will begin next year.
In morning trading, shares of Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies fell US$1.72, or 3.1 percent, to US$54.12, as the broader market tumbled.
