Indonesian airlines are providing free or heavily discounted flights for those who want to fly or deliver humanitarian aid cargo from Jakarta to the earthquake-stricken areas of Padang, West Sumatra, airline officials said.

"We would provide a free go-and-return flight for passengers who want to go from Jakarta to Padang on Oct. 4. The seats were fully booked in 60 minutes," an AirAsia Indonesia spokesperson said, "The plane used in the program called 'Charity Flight' has 130 seats."

Meanwhile, the Jakarta-based Batavia Air provides free cargo for humanitarian aid in Padang.

The national flag-carrier airline, Garuda Indonesia, provides a 50-percent cargo delivery discount to fly to Padang in two months, from Oct. 1 to Nov. 30.
