Finnair said it would be forced to ground up to 20 flights on Dec. 2 as workers with the Finnish Aviation Union continue industrial action started on Nov. 30.

Finnair said in a statement it had cancelled 35 flights after union staff walked out on Nov. 30 in a protest over working conditions, mainly a rise in shift work.

"It is difficult to say estimate, but following the same pattern, some 15-20 flights will be cancelled tomorrow," Finnair spokesperson Taneli Hassinen said.

Finnair, crippled last month by a pilots' strike, said while some of the staff had returned to work, around 500 of its cargo handling staff would continue the walkout.

"Some are guessing the walkout could end tomorrow afternoon, but nothing is certain. This is an illegal walkout, we don't have any official negotiations going on," Hassinen added.
