Subject Concerned: Government Airport
The Metro Airport in Detroit has tightened security in the wake of a believed terrorist attack aboard a flight headed to Detroit, airport sources said on Dec. 26.
Travelers will need extra time to deal with increased security measures at Metro Airport, airport spokesman Mike Conway said that check-in and screening lines were longer on Dec. 26 and passengers should plan to arrive early.
"People are showing up really early this morning. They were screening people at 6 a.m. for 9-10 a.m. flights," Conway said.
Officials with the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the agency responsible for increasing airport security, would not comment on specific measures taken at the airport after a Nigerian man allegedly attempted to blow up a Delta/Northwest flight as it was heading to Metro Airport on Dec. 25.
