Police at the Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) detained a man who falsely claimed to have carried a bomb on board an aircraft on Dec. 27.

The man, surnamed Li, got into an argument with another passenger, whose window seat he had occupied on a flight to Hefei, Anhui province.

When other passengers criticized Li for not agreeing to vacate the seat, he stood up and screamed he was carrying a bomb in his handbag.

Cabin crew immediately called for security who evacuated the plane and took Li into custody.

Though nothing dangerous was found in Li's bag, he was detained for disturbing peace.
