Malaysian budget airline AirAsia Bhd is optimistic about travel demand as the U.S. economic slowdown could mean passengers shifting to low-cost airlines, its top executive said on Apr. 3.
"An airline industry is incredibly political. But one has to be optimistic," chief executive Tony Fernandes told reporters on the sidelines of industry forum in Bangkok.
Low-cost carriers in Asia had proven to be more resilient than those in America and Europe, he said.
