Subject Concerned: Airlines   Flight Delay   Airport

On Jun. 16, normal service resumed at Wellington Airport in the afternoon after heavy fog forced the cancellation of at least 30 flights stranding hundreds of travelers.

A Wellington Airport spokeswoman said the airport was a lot quieter at 4 p.m. (04:00GMT), the New Zealand Press Association reported.

Air New Zealand canceled 25 flights, with 800 passengers had to wait until the fog cleared just before 1 p.m.

The backlog was cleared by 3 p.m., an Air New Zealand spokesman said.

The closure delayed Jun. 16's Cabinet meeting, with Prime Minister Helen Clark unable to leave Auckland and other ministers being unable to land in Wellington.
