Qantas said it is experiencing strong forward bookings from the US for its Melbourne-Los Angeles A380 service set to launch on Oct. 20.
It has configured its A380 for just 450 passengers with 14 seats in first class, 72 in business, 32 in premium economy and 332 in economy.
A Qantas spokesperson told the Australian Associated Press that US sales, which began on Jun. 16, are progressing.
"Our forward bookings are positive for the US market on both our 747s and the A380," the spokesperson said.
QF said there has been a high level of inquiries from Australian customers asking for the specific days the A380 will fly.
The first aircraft initially will operate two return services per week, one each from Melbourne and Sydney.
Separately, QF continues to struggle with its disgruntled engineers. It was forced to scrap 120 flights between Jun. 23 and Jun. 25 and warned of further significant disruption on Jun. 27 and Jun. 28.
