Air Pacific will increase ticket prices between Australia and Fiji by approximately 5 per cent for tickets issued from June 11, 2008.
The airline's chief executive officer John Campbell said that although Air Pacific had effective internal cost management and some fuel hedging, the airline could no longer sustain current fare levels with the price of fuel reaching record highs.
"Whilst the general fare increases will result in travellers paying slightly more for their journey, Air Pacific has overhauled its fare structure to allow more flexibility for those who need it; created discounted business class levels for those who want more room and luxury; and increased the discount for children travelling with the family. Additionally, we continue to provide great-value fares through our website - where the fare increases are as little as 2 per cent," he said.
