Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport staff raised a false alarm recently when an overseas passenger attempted to take a box of bricks and a bag of cement onboard his flight from the Guangdong provincial capital.
Security guards opened the case for closer inspection when they saw its contents on the X-ray machine.
The passenger surnamed Lee, South Korean, explained that he is the representative of a construction business, and that he was taking the brick and cement samples home for analysis and study.
Lee eventually agreed to leave his controversial in-flight luggage behind after being asked to pay airfreight to ship it home.
