Aeroflot will not bid for Austrian Airlines, the Russian carrier said on July 30.
"The risks outweigh the reward," an SU spokesperson told Reuters.
The OS board this week approved the privatization of the carrier and is waiting on a decision from the government, which controls holding company OIAG.
Aeroflot repeatedly has stated its interest in acquiring a European partner.
Separately, SU said it carried 852,900 passengers in June, up 13.7% year-over-year. Load factor was 74.7%. First-half passenger numbers climbed 16.2% to 4.4 million with load factor at 68.5%.
