As a strike by ground and cabin crew at Germany's biggest airline enters its third day, Lufthansa said it has cancelled some international long-haul flights.
Eight flights from Frankfurt to New York, Calcutta (India), and Calgary (Canada) and four of the 78 flights to destinations in Germany and Europe could not take off. Airline officials say the cancelled flights account for about four percent of the airline's total flight capacity.
A Lufthansa spokesman says the airline is trying to adjust its schedule with the strike programme. He adds that the airline is willing to negotiate with union members who are demanding a pay rise.
